Did You Know?
Pirates say "Arrr!" and R-rated movies sound similar! The movie rating system in the U.S. started in 1968. R-rated means restricted - under 17 requires an accompanying parent. The "pirate accent" we know today was popularized by actor Robert Newton in the 1950 film "Treasure Island." Real historical pirates came from many countries and spoke various languages!
