Ingredients

6 slices bread

8 slices ham

8 slices turkey

8 slices Swiss cheese

4 tablespoons butter

4 eggs

1 ¼ cups milk

1 cup half-and-half cream

1 tablespoon sugar

1 teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon pepper

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

2 tablespoons powdered sugar

Directions

1.

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with butter.

2.

Layer half of the bread slices on the bottom of the baking dish to form a base layer.

3.

Add a layer of ham and turkey slices over the bread. Top with Swiss cheese slices.

4.

Add the remaining bread slices on top to complete the sandwich structure of the casserole.

5.

Melt the butter in a saucepan, then whisk in the eggs, milk, cream, sugar, salt, and pepper.

6.

Pour the egg mixture evenly over the casserole, ensuring the bread is well soaked.

7.

Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes to allow the ingredients to meld together.

8.

Remove the foil, sprinkle powdered sugar on top, and bake for an additional 10 minutes until golden brown.

9.

Check that the custard has set in the center before removing from the oven.

10.

Allow the casserole to cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving warm.
