Did you hear the one about the broken computer that needed a place to stay?

It had nowhere to crash.

"Crash" means both finding a place to sleep and when a computer suddenly stops working! The term "computer crash" became popular in the 1960s, originally describing hardware failures. Today, the average computer experiences a crash about once every few months, though modern operating systems have become much more stable than their predecessors.
