Why did the broom get cast in the Broadway revival?

It really swept audiences off their feet.

Did You Know?

"Swept off your feet" means to be overwhelmed or deeply impressed — exactly what happens when a broom literally sweeps! Broadway revivals often bring classic shows back to life with fresh casts and updated staging. The longest-running Broadway revival is "Chicago," which has been playing continuously since 1996, outlasting many original productions.
